About 2’ by 2’ on 3/8” MDO, really just a piece of scrap, that I attached to an old vintage stanchion I picked up at Gerson’s.

I have a definite fascination with painting big rocks. I start with small photo references (usually gleaned from W’s gem issue, OMG) and then puzzle out my own architecture. Yes I use a straight edge (a medium 30/60 pink triangle) but end up using it subtly like a French curve on these gems.

This piece took about 20 hours.

A closeup of the table. I mixed about a dozen blues for this piece.
