MDO plaques, lettering enamel and Dutch metal guild

Rae had the wagon made and wanted it encrusted in the Victorian style. I did a tight pencil concept drawing and she gave me carte blanche to do whatever I fancied. This piece really tapped into my inner OZMA.

Over 150 hours for this, easy, and I quite enjoyed it.

A front view of the wagon, showing applied painted an gilded MDO plaques, and lettering and striping painted directly on the body of the wagon.

A side view of the wagon, with an applied gilded and painted MDO plaque and lettering and striping painted directly on the body.

A side view of the wagon (every side was different) showing four applied painted and gilded MDO plaques, and lettering, striping and vines painted directly on the body.
I laid out the plaques (on two 4’ by 8’ sheets of MDO) on bare MDO with charcoal to get the curves just right.

Another side of the wagon, with more plaques and lettering and striping painted directlly on the body.
I made MDO plaques for this piece whenever possible, as I had no desire to paint all those board seams.

The back of the wagon, with four applied MDO plaques, and striping, vines and lettering painted directly on the body.
The proprietress tricked out the interior with lots of velvet cushions and curtains and stocked it with corsets, fans, Florida water and stockings and such, and then went to various upscale locales (Jackson Hole, etc.) to sell her merchandise.
